How we look after your information

We sell table bases to the furniture trade. To do that we need to know who you are and where to send things. This page says what we hold about you, why we hold it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

When you apply for a trade account

The name of your business, your name and job title, your email address and phone number, your business address, your company number or VAT number, your website if you have one, and what your business makes. We use this to decide whether to open the account.

When you order

What you ordered, the delivery address, who to contact about the delivery, and the invoices and payments on your account.

When you write to us

Your message and our reply, whether by email, phone or the contact form.

When you use the site

Our web server records the technical basics of each visit, such as your IP address, the type of browser, and the pages you open. We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your basket and your language. The cookies page lists every one.

We do not buy information about you from anyone else, and we do not collect anything from social media.

Why we use it

• To decide whether to open a trade account, and then to run it.
• To take your orders, deliver them and invoice you.
• To answer your questions.
• To tell account holders about new bases, stock and changes to the range. You can stop these emails at any time with the link at the bottom of each one, or by asking us.
• To keep the site working, safe and free of fraud.
• To keep the records the law requires, such as invoices for tax.

Our legal grounds are the contract with you, our legitimate interest in running a trade business, our legal duties on tax records, and your consent where the law asks for it.

Who sees it

We never sell your information and we never share it for advertising. The only people outside Abacus Home who see any of it are the companies that help us do the job.

• Couriers and pallet carriers, who get the delivery name, address and phone number for your order.
• The companies that host this website and send our email.
• Our accountants, for the invoices and payments.
• The authorities, if the law requires it.

Each of these works under a contract that allows them to use your information only to do that work for us.

Outside the UK

We work from the UK. Some of the companies we use keep data in the European Union or the United States, under the safeguards UK and EU law require. If you buy from us in Italy or elsewhere in the EU, the EU General Data Protection Regulation protects you as well, everything here applies to you in the same way, and you can complain to your own data protection authority. In Italy that is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

How long we keep it

How we keep it safe

Your account is protected by your password, and we will never ask you for it by phone or email. The site runs over an encrypted connection. Only the people at Abacus Home who need your information to serve you can see it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to

• show you the information we hold about you,
• correct anything that is wrong,
• delete it, where we are not required to keep it,
• stop using it for a particular purpose, or stop marketing to you,
• give you a copy in a form you can take elsewhere,
• withdraw a consent you have given.

Email info@abacushome.co.uk and we will reply within a month. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this page

This is a trade site for businesses, not for anyone under eighteen. When we change this page we change the date at the top, and if a change matters to account holders we will email them.
