Terms and conditions of sale

These are the terms on which Abacus Home sells table bases to the furniture trade. By opening a trade account or placing an order you agree to them.

Abacus Home is the trading name of Abacus Home Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 08305747, registered office Unit 10 London Road, High Wycombe HP11 1LH. Abacus Home is the exclusive distributor of Flowyline table bases in the UK and Europe.

Trade customers only

We sell only to businesses in the furniture trade. We do not sell to the public. To buy from us you need a trade account, which we open once we have checked that you are a trading business. We can decline an application or close an account at any time, and we will tell you if we do.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for every order placed through your account.

Prices

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and exclude VAT. VAT is added at the order summary at the rate that applies on the invoice date. Quantity discounts are shown as you add to your basket and applied on the order summary.

Prices on the site can change. The price that applies to an order is the one shown when we confirm it.

Ordering

You place an order through the basket on the site. Your order is an offer to buy. We confirm it by email and send an invoice. The contract is made when we send that confirmation.

There is no payment to make on the website. Payment is made against our invoice, by bank transfer, before the goods are collected or dispatched, unless we have agreed other terms with you in writing.

Made to order and in stock

Bases shown as made to order are made for the next shipment. The order-by date and the ready-from date are shown on each product and in your basket when you order. The ready-from date is our best estimate at the time of the order. If it moves we will tell you as soon as we know, and we are not liable for loss caused by a delay.

Bases shown as in stock are held at our premises in Slough and are ready for collection or dispatch once the invoice is paid.

Changes and cancellations

You can change or cancel an order free of charge until the order-by date for that shipment. After that date the bases have been ordered from the maker and the order cannot be cancelled or reduced.

Orders for in-stock bases can be cancelled free of charge until they are collected or dispatched.

Collection and delivery

You can collect from us in Slough free of charge, send your own courier, or ask us to deliver on a pallet by courier. The delivery charge is shown at checkout and on the invoice.

Responsibility for the goods passes to you when they are collected from us or handed to the carrier you have chosen. When we deliver, it passes when the goods are delivered to the address on the order.

Please check the goods on arrival. Tell us about any damage or shortage within two working days of delivery, with photographs, and we will put it right. We cannot accept a claim for transit damage reported after that.

For deliveries outside the United Kingdom, any import duty and import VAT are payable by you unless the checkout says otherwise.

Fitting

Our bases are supplied as components for you to fit to tops you make or supply. You are responsible for choosing a size that suits the top, for fitting it correctly and for the finished piece of furniture. The size guide on each product gives the range of top sizes each base is made for.

Returns

Made-to-order bases are made for your order and cannot be returned unless they are faulty.

In-stock bases can be returned within fourteen days of delivery if they are unused, unfitted and in their original packaging. You arrange and pay for the return, and we refund the price of the goods once we have checked them.

Faults and guarantee

Every base is guaranteed against faults in materials and manufacture for twelve months from delivery. If a base is faulty, tell us with photographs and we will repair it, replace it or refund it. The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, chips or scratches to the powder coat caused by impact, damage during fitting, misuse, or use outdoors.

Finishes are applied by hand and in batches. Small variations in shade between bases and between orders are normal and are not a fault.

Images, drawings and 3D models

Approved accounts can download images, drawings and 3D models of the bases. You may use them to design, quote for and market furniture that uses our bases. You may not sell them, pass them to anyone else, or use them to present the bases as your own or anyone else’s product. They remain the property of Abacus Home Limited and Flowyline.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, our liability to you under an order is limited to the price you paid for it, and we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business or any indirect loss.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. Where you are a business in the European Union, nothing in these terms takes away any protection you cannot give up under the law of your own country.
